Space Town Hall provides space-inspired citizens a common place to develop their curiosity and gain hands-on know-how regarding space technology and exploration from each other, celebrating the diversity of different perspectives and disciplines.
WHERE IS THIS TOWN HALL?
Online, our community hall is at Meetup, our bridge broadcast is at Twitter and Facebook page, our chat/discussion room at Google Groups, our poster-ed up walls at Pinterest and this website is the bridge where you'd find and the "yellow page" of citizen space at the directory and we keep a logbook (blog) charting the citizen space journey.
What is the bridge anyways?
In this case, we mean the bridge of a vessel: a platform from which a vessel is navigated; often includes a pilot house and a chart house. Something like this: (but we are not going to have the Star Wars and Star Trek divide here!)
Come, meet other space-inspired citizens and be inspired by our space speakers. We love diversity and cross-overs - whether that's the disciplines, the perspectives, your affiliations... You don't have to dream of building a rocket at the age of one to be space-inspired. We welcome you, as you are + curiosity. We announce our events at Meetup:
Like yellow pages, our Open Directory is a service to navigate the galactic citizen space star-scape! To get listed, the project listed MUST be accessible to citizens; the more it is open for participation, the better.
This is currently in beta, keep us tipped!
Hack Your Way
It is not how much you know already, it's how much more you are willing to keep learning. We firmly believe in actions. Let's learn by doing: testing out ideas by implementing prototypes and experiments at
to better understand space technologies, first hand.
No, you are not too old/young to learn!
Taking it Further
If you'd like to have a chat, all of our contact details are at the top right of this site.
Here are your rights, citizens! If you have an idea for an event or project and have 3 backers, we'll work with you to work out how to make your proposal happen, just:
Wanted to learn something other than the existing Hack-n-Learn's? Suggest a topic and let's see if we can get something put together.
THE POPUP TOWN HALL
The event format
Should I come along?
- If you are space-curious, come and learn about space from our speakers and chat to like minded.
- If you are interested in participating in space related projects, you are in for a treat. Every Space Town Hall event will provide opportunity for citizens, regardless of background, to join a space related project.
- If you have a piece of artistic expression (music, installation, poem...) relating to space, come and move the audience. The more multi-disciplinary, the merrier.
- If you are not one of the above, come along and tell us we need to include you!
What to bring?
When is the next one?
In reality it can happen as frequently as we, as a community, turn around events, the more help we get with securing sponsorship, speakers, blogs, tweets, volunteers to help on the day, the sooner we can get the next round going. Want to see it happen soon? Make it so! If you have time or ideas, please do not hesitate to check out our volunteer page and /or drop us a line. That would surely keep things happen more regularly!
